An object is something that a user creates with what is known as object-oriented programming language. It can simply serve for the amusement of others in a shared virtual community, or it can be anything that will enhance the user's appearance or belongings in that community. For example, it is common to create a pet using the object programming language. When a player in an online game logs on, the pet appears with him or her. The pet can be programmed to meow, bark, spring onto another user's lap, waddle about the room, etc. Other examples include clothing, jewelry, weapons -- anything that is appropriate for use in the particular online community.
