More about "version"

Authors of printed journal articles typically do not have the option of updating or revising their work, but it is quite feasible to do so in an electronic journal. I take great comfort in this fact because there are many times I've wished to retract or qualify statements made in a published article, but I've had no mechanism to do so. It is discomforting to know that one's ill-conceived or at least underdeveloped ideas cannot be modified and are still fair game to be cited by others, thus perpetuating their negative valence.
