The map on the right depicts the macrostructure of this article. Individual pages, or “nodes,” are indicated in ovals, with links indicated as lines with small arrowheads (which may be hard to see, depending on the size of your monitor) attached to the nodes that are the destination of the link (e.g., “Abstract” links to “Flex1”).  The small circles appearing next to lines indicating links do not represent features of the hypertext -- these are simply artifacts of the graph-drawing software (Ellson, Koutsofios, & North, 1998; downloadable open source software) that was used to create the image.
