• “If students are really involved in what they are reading, I will give more time that day. Ten to fifteen minutes seems to be long enough for some of the poorer readers.”
• “I use SSR as a starter activity, and hope it carries over to home and 'Down Time.'”
• “I need the other minutes for individual and group direct instruction.”
• “I really would like more but the curriculum demands....”
• “We have a good balance of reading and instruction.”
• “I do a great deal of silent reading in my class other then SSR.”
