Introduction
This article contains descriptions of and links to websites that literacy educators should find useful. We have expanded and updated the list over the past four years, using both the results of our own searches and the recommendations of teachers with whom we work. It is, of course, not exhaustive -- we may not have found some excellent literacy-related sites, and in the fast-changing world of the Internet, new ones appear (and seemingly stable ones vanish) almost daily. Nevertheless, the sites described here cover a wide range of the sorts of resources available to literacy professionals on the World Wide Web. We welcome e-mail from readers with information about sites we may have missed, or about broken links that may appear in the current list when sites are reorganized, moved, or dismantled.
The sites are organized alphabetically around the 16 categories listed in the navigation bar at the left. Click on one of the categories, and then follow the links that display in this main panel to explore the sites. The sites will also appear in this main panel, so that navigation to this article will be retained as you go out on the Web. If you want to view the outside Web resource full screen, simply copy the URL listed and paste it into your browser's Location or Address field.
